I am Tracy Riley, and I respectfully ask the Salmon Arm community to consider electing me as School Trustee for K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw School District No. 83 (Trustee Electoral Area 4 -Salmon Arm)
As a lifelong learner, long-time Salmon Arm resident, former teacher, administrator, and parent, I am committed to supporting learners, families, educators, staff, Rightsholders, and elders through thoughtful governance, responsible stewardship, and compassionate leadership.
Many Lenses of Learning
Throughout my professional career, I have explored education from multiple perspectives: as a lifelong learner, a public K-12 teacher in both Canada and in Japan, a post-secondary instructor, a post-secondary administrator, curriculum developer, a board member for local literacy and writing societies, a home learning teacher, and a parent.
Foundation for Service
My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), Teaching English as a Second or Other Language diploma (TESOL), and a Master of Arts (M.A.) specializing in Teaching and Learning.
In addition to over 30 years of teaching, learning, and community service, I also have over 20 years of public and private sector administrative experience which includes serving as a co-director of an engineering company, Associate Dean for the former Arts and Foundational Programs at Okanagan College and holding several leadership positions in educational settings.
Addressing Complexity
My teaching and administrative experience has prepared me to address complex challenges, including measured fiscal governance, strategic planning, hiring and staff support, student achievement and advocacy , grief and loss support, and major technology disruptions.
These experiences have shaped a trauma-informed leadership approach grounded in belonging, empathy, relationship, and reconciliation.
Thus, I believe strong communities are built on curiosity, compassion, inclusion, collaboration, sustainability, innovation, and integrity.
In Trust
As a School Trustee, I would work diligently to help create learning environments where students can build the knowledge, skills, confidence, and resilience they need to flourish.
It would be an honour to serve the learners, families, educators, staff, Rightsholders, and elders of the K̓wsaltktnéws ne Secwepemcúl’ecw School District No. 83 community while continuing the work I value most: helping create meaningful opportunities for learning, growth, well-being, and success.

Tracy gratefully lives on the traditional and unceded territory of the Secwépemc People, surrounded by mountains, cedar trees, water, flowers, birds, bees, fish, deer, bears, and so much more, alongside her beautiful family and amazing friends.
